The Lay-Up Site

Overturned child's shoe once was bought in South America new.

Squeezing fingers 'round a can of fish,

more food is another desperate wish.

Dreams of a warm safe bed,

no such thing as blankets for the dead.

Unspeakable travels to here from birth,

becomes its own rite of passage -

an upright cross in the dirt.

Visiting Grandma

With an eastern sky blue and yellow,

then add green desert fields for a Southwestern look that's mellow.

The wind does blow curtains

whether they are teal, sienna, or beige.

And after the rain, there's the powerful riding fragrance of the purple sage.
